Background & History:
Humanitarian Aid (HA) is a Non - Governmental Organization (NGO) established in the year 2012, whose mission is to provide an immediate humanitarian response and solution to communities that have been displaced by natural and manmade catastrophes.
It is aimed at restoration of the livelihoods and living conditions of displaced communities, creating a community that is self-reliant in the long run, with limited support by government and donor agencies.
Specifically, it focuses in the fields of health, nutrition, water and sanitation, education, community services, logistics, protection and environment. Humanitarian Aid’s administrative echelon, consists of a blend of experienced individuals across the professional spectrum. Some have served in reputable local and international humanitarian agencies, notably; Dr. Charles Ayume and Mr. Benjamin Byarugaba, the founder members.
Our team is of well qualified, highly trained and strongly motivated man power that hold university degrees from well – accredited universities. We are proud to be one of the NGOs in Uganda who knows that our growth and success is linked to our commitment to excellence and professional service we offer to our clients.
We are currently in Health; with special focus on prevention strategy and linking the community to the health centers for curative and professional medical management of illnesses. We conduct sensitization on HIV/AIDS, Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV), Adolescent Reproductive Health (ARH), Drug and substance abuse demand reduction, Life skills, Malaria Prevention practices among other illnesses.
For effective message delivery, we use a range of methods like: music dance and drama, videos, door to door visits, community dialogues, inter school competitions, impromptu discussions, public awareness campaigns and behavioral change festivals like 16 days of activism, World AIDS day to mention but a few.
We also mobilize and distribute Information Education Communication (IEC) materials from different NGOs and Government Ministries for Health education and Behavioral change. In addition, we identify and support Elderly with basic needs and vulnerable Adolescents (Child Mothers, School dropouts, Slum Youth, and Orphans) with marketable vocation skills training through partnering with local Artisan to offer the training at negotiable fee.
